1.1.1   Roof top rainwater harvesting:

 

This method can be implemented for houses or buildings, which have flat terraces. At present your buildings do have rainwater outlet pipes. These rainwater outlet pipes are draining Rainwater collected on the terrace of the building.

 

This rain water can be collected in to a central sump and then can be filtered through a rain water filters and then this treated rainwater can be stored in to the storage tank or can be used for the recharging of the bore well or open well and brought back into reuse to satisfy the non potable water needs.

 

1.1.2          Surface rainwater harvesting:

 

This method of rainwater harvesting is implemented for the rainwater fallen on the roads or pavements. It is worth to mention that since this rain water fallen on the road or pavement is getting contaminated due to dirt, oil and other impurities present on the road or pavement.

 

Due to these, pollutants load in this surface rainwater is very high as compared to the roof top rainwater, hence proper cleaning and maintenance and treatment of the harvested rainwater is necessary before the use or ground water recharging.

 

Based on the geological study of the soil strata, Surface rain water can be filtered by building a filtration pit in the low laying area of the plot and then can be recharged in to the ground with the help of recharge bore well or pit.
